When we first bought our house we thought, well maybe we will just replace the countertop... of course, I thought that would be a waste of money since we would end up redo-ing it again if we ever replaced the cabinets.
So I started pricing a few things and found some great custom cabinets through Scott, the owner of Lakeland Liquidator. I was sold on the fact that they were made here is the USA and that even the cabinet part was made of cabinet-grade solid wood.
So after pricing them out we decided to go for it. I can not say enough good things about Scott. They are top-notch, no-nonsense guys who went out of their way to make sure our kitchen looked fabulous!
I also have to give a special shout-out to Teresa from Southern Granite... her team did a great job!! You can't even see the seams!
Also, Gilbert at Gilbert's Drywall - top notch guy, right there; Fore Electric (union workers - haha - inside joke, actually they were great), and Lakeland Glass & Mirror.
We had such wonderful vendors all around.. just an overall great experience!
So our simple, "let's replace the countertop" turned into a complete kitchen renovation.
Here is a few of the things we did:
•Removed ceiling soffit and raised ceiling over a foot.
•Added knock-down finish to the walls & ceilings.
•New custom maple cabinets (we left off the cabinets over the bar and added can lights that are convertible to pendant lights-if I can ever find any that the hubby and I agree on).
•New granite (over 90 sq. ft. since we extended both the interior and exterior bar by 8 ").
•New black appliances
•New bar window (hurricane rated)
•Recessed lightning
•New electrical sockets/plates (wanted GFI sockets plus we changed all the trim to white throughout the house)
•New under counter sink
•New faucet
I still need to install the cabinet software and touch up some paint but other than that, we are pretty much finished.
What do you think?
